Biography

Edzer Prophete, originally from Haiti, from a young age he quickly developed great interests in painting.

In high school, he took drawing classes at the Haiti Art Center. In 1994 he began his university studies at ENARTS,

After exploring the arts of the school of beauty with Valcin-2, his work currently is much more characterized by spontaneity which has nothing to do with aesthetics.

Artistic approach

Edzer PROPHETE born in Haiti, from a very young age the passion for drawing and the desire to create surprises him, it is his true passion to express himself.

His immediate environment then becomes a hunting ground, where he captures on paper the shapes and objects that surround him.

After secondary school, he began his studies at ENARTS (National School of Arts). Unfortunately, political crises prevented this school from functioning. To pursue his dream in this field, he took drawing and painting lessons from Valcin-2 who is a surrealist painter who places a lot of emphasis on aesthetics.

Initially, he was influenced by his master. Over the years, he abandoned the aesthetic aspect to adopt abstract expressionism, offering him greater freedom of expression, allowing him to explore themes related to socio-political issues and arbitrary aesthetics, his main sources of inspiration. The artist draws very little before creating a work. Spontaneity is the keystone of each of his creations.

Edzer Prophete presents works painted in acrylic on wood and canvas where he explores socio-political themes. These themes are reflected in his works where he juxtaposes structured shapes in the background, in the foreground, flows of paint in bright colors which seek to take their place.
