  Soraya Miot-Cardozo
Painter

Born in Port au Prince, Haiti, SorayaMiot¬-Cardozo has always had a passion for everything related to the arts. She started by coloring and gradually discovered the magic of colors and thus developing a keen sense of observation and proportions.

As a young child, she was fortunate to have been able to attend Potomitan, a summer art camp headed by the renowned Haitian Artist Tiga who with infinite patience help the young campers develop their love for the arts. Having lived among artists such as Bernard and EdouardWah, TitionSavain, Raoul Viard, Raoul Dupoux and Serge Garoute,Soraya immersed herself in this environment. She also participated in several pottery and ceramics workshop as well as drawing courses given by Mr. Garoute for some time.

She entered the ``Faculté de Médecineet de Pharmacie``from which she graduated at the top of her class and obtained her Pharmacy diploma. She also received a certificate in bookkeeping from the college of Accounting, Management and Information CCGI.

Through the years, she studied the different facets of paintings and found her unique style in the attention to details and warm colors. She uses charcoal and ink before trying oil painting and watercolor… She is also an avid amateur photographer and greatly appreciates the use of macros that allows close –up photography of very small subjects. She rediscovered the ‘’papiermâché’’ and its side of “re-creation” that promotesrecycling in a world where pollution, abuse and waste increases everyday in an environment in a real need of our protection.
