Serge Panine Michel was born in Carrefour in the City of Port-au-Prince. He began drawing at the age of 9 at the Brothers of Christian Instruction School. He was initiated in aquarelle painting in his neighborhood by the painter Roland Vogue, alias Chine’ who was selling his art at Red Carpet, an Art Gallery in Port-au-Prince. At first, Chine made the drawings and he finished them with colors. Serge Panine completed his first painting at age 22 but left painting for: soccer, volley-ball and boxing.

Upon his arrival in Montreal he took his brushes and began painting again. After meeting the artist Eddy Royère, administrator of the Reminiscences Artists, who appreciated the quality of his work, he joined the association. He has participated in a group exposition in Santiago, Cuba in 2014 where his work was also admired.

The artist is inspired by scenes from everyday life from his native Haiti. He paints in the traditional Haitian art scenes of rural life, man and his environment, merchants and so on...
